Job summary

Cohu is seeking an experienced software engineer to design and build Windows-based controls for high‑volume semiconductor equipment. You will develop a large, scalable framework for machine control, robotics, sensors, and vision systems, focusing on uptime, safety, and reliability.

The role spans architecture through deployment and customer support, collaborating with EE/ME/Test/Apps teams and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including automation, machine control, or electro‑mechanical systems.
• Expert C/C++ skills with OOD and design patterns; Windows desktop development in VS; C# for tooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and integrate machine control software using C++ and C# in a Visual Studio environment.
• Develop automation software using object‑oriented design principles and software patterns.
• Interface with customers and cross‑functional teams to align requirements, integration plans, and release readiness.
