Job summary

CB Partners, LLC is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to lead a critical indirect tax function in a multi-entity, multi-state environment. You will oversee sales and use tax, audit support, and process improvements while mentoring a team of tax professionals.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in indirect tax, strong leadership, and expertise in Vertex, SAP S/4HANA, and data analytics. Collaboration with Finance, IT, and operations will be essential to drive scalable, compliant tax operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive indirect tax experience in a complex corporate environment.
• 3-5 years of leadership experience managing teams.
• Strong knowledge of sales and use tax, indirect tax compliance, audits, tax research.
• Experience managing high-volume, multi-state tax operations.
• SOX compliance, internal controls, and risk management knowledge.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional influence.
• Advanced Excel and data-analysis capabilities.
• Experience with tax engines, ERP systems, and automation tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of indirect tax professionals, including direct reports.
• Provide day-to-day leadership and performance management across tax compliance functions.
• Drive process improvements and standardization across tax operations.
• Oversee preparation, review, and filing of sales/use tax, gross receipts tax, and other indirect taxes.
• Review tax returns, reconciliations, and supporting workpapers for accuracy.
• Ensure deadlines and service levels are met across entities and jurisdictions.
• Mitigate indirect tax risks and strengthen internal controls.
• Support tax audits, notices, and disputes with documentation and resolution.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and defendable positions.
• Partner with IT and Finance on system enhancements and automation.
• Monitor regulatory developments impacting the business.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, Operations on strategic initiatives.
