Job summary

Newport News Nuclear BWXT Los Alamos (N3B) seeks an experienced in-house counsel to provide comprehensive legal services to support operations under the DOE Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract. You will advise senior management on government contract matters, labor and employment law, and environmental regulatory compliance, and may serve as Ethics Officer or Privacy Officer as designated.

The role requires a Juris Doctor, bar admission, U.S.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and bar admission in good standing (NM or another U.S. state) with eligibility to qualify as in-house counsel within six months.
• At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties; preferred experience with a U.S. DOE contractor.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to senior management on matters relating to federal procurement and government contract law (FAR/DEAR compliance, contract administration, cost allowability, performance risk).
• Advise on labor and employment law matters including discipline, investigations, wage/hour compliance, and federal and NM employment laws.
• Support environmental regulatory compliance for legacy cleanup operations; interpret/state/federal statutes, permits, and regulatory enforcement interactions.
• Draft, review, and revise contracts, policies, and regulatory submissions; prepare written and oral opinions.
• Work with General Counsel in representing the company in judicial/administrative proceedings and negotiations with agencies.
