Job summary

D3 Embedded seeks a Senior Image Scientist to lead end-to-end imaging system development, calibration, ISP tuning, and algorithm work on embedded platforms. You will own camera calibration, real-time verification, and image quality assessment across multiple product lines.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams and customers, you will guide design decisions, improve processes, and mentor engineers while focusing on high-performance embedded imaging solutions and rapid innovation.

Qualifications

• BS in Imaging Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in imaging systems, embedded vision, or related fields.
• Proven problem solving, debugging, and innovative technical thinking.
• Strong ability to read schematics and troubleshoot hardware.
• Experience writing embedded device drivers and debugging embedded platforms.
• Solid understanding of embedded software/firmware development (C/C++).
• Advanced experience with Embedded Linux, BSP configuration, kernel drivers, and device tree implementation.
• Experience with Git version control and GCC/GNU toolchains.
• Experience with embedded camera systems, video pipelines, and image processing is highly desirable.
• Self-driven with the ability to influence system-level decisions and lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead all imaging chain aspects including sensor calibration, optics, ISP tuning, and validation.
• Own development and optimization of embedded camera systems on RTOS/Embedded Linux.
• Provide senior-level execution for hardware bring-up, driver/config testing, and system debugging.
• Oversee camera module calibration, characterization, and image quality evaluation across products.
• Act as technical authority and liaison with customers and program managers.
• Support project planning, scoping, estimation, and risk identification.
• Develop engineering plans and best practices for major projects.
• Perform development and testing in advanced imaging labs.
• Work with embedded Linux platforms, SDKs, and hardware kits (NVIDIA/TI/Intel).
• Lead design and development of camera interface boards and tools.
• Identify and deploy tools/processes to improve analysis and efficiency.
• Provide oversight through design reviews, architecture evaluations, and quality assessments.
• Mentor and coach engineers and interns; promote technical excellence.
