Job summary

Akamai Technologies is seeking a Senior II Solutions Engineer for its Public Sector Pre‑Sales team in the United States. You will align Akamai solutions with government needs, build relationships, and deliver high-impact technical outcomes to millions of users.

You will lead technical demos and POCs, craft proposals, and collaborate with engineering and business teams to provide secure, scalable cloud-based web acceleration and security solutions across the Akamai platform.

Qualifications

• 12 years of experience in related roles in government or regulated industries.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/retain a U.S. government clearance.
• Experience in customer-facing consulting, technical solutions pre-sales, or sales roles.
• Background in web acceleration, web security, infrastructure security, or cloud computing.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, HTML, SSL and cloud computing concepts.
• Customer advocate with ability to present to diverse audiences.
• Team player capable of collaborating and solving problems in fast-changing environments.

Responsibilities

• Create sales opportunities by managing pre-sales technical processes and demonstrating Akamai's technology to customers.
• Manage the technical proposal process ensuring all technical information and recommendations meet customer requirements.
• Track account activity for business analysis and design technical solutions to meet customer needs.
• Lead sales activities such as Technical Demos and Proofs of Concept (POCs).

• Tracking account activity for business analysis and reporting, designing technical solutions to meet our customers’ needs
• Leading sales activities such as Technical Demos and Proof of Concepts (POCs)

Qualifications

• 12 years of experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
• U.S. citizenship as well as the ability to obtain and retain a U.S. government clearance
• Experience working in a customer‑facing consulting, technical solutions pre‑sales, or sales role
• Background and experience in web acceleration, web security, infrastructure security technologies or cloud computing solutions
• Comprehensive understanding of the Internet, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, HTML, SSL protocols and Cloud Computing
• Customer advocate passionate about delivering technical solutions
• Experience presenting technical topics to diverse audiences
• Team player, able to collaborate, prioritize, and solve problems in a fast‑changing environment

Compensation may include incentive bonus, equity awards, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
