Job summary

PG&E in Oakland seeks an engineer/data scientist to join the Integrated Grid Planning team, building data-driven tools for investment decisions and risk analytics in a leading smart-grid program.

You will collaborate with data scientists, asset engineers, regulatory professionals, and business experts to translate complex requirements into scalable solutions that support safety, reliability, affordability, and customer outcomes. This hybrid role blends remote work with site location in Oakland.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mechanical, civil, electrical, etc.)
• 7 years of job-related experience
• Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Operations Research, or related quantitative field (desired)
• Experience applying data analytics, modeling, and decision-support techniques

Responsibilities

• Advance utility risk analytics by studying, evaluating, and improving risk models used for investment decisions and risk management.
• Lead analytical work across Integrated Grid Planning (IGP), including circuit-based investment planning and scenario analysis.
• Translate regulatory requirements into actionable engineering solutions and collaborate with stakeholders to implement planning processes.
• Mentor teams of engineers and analysts with diverse backgrounds.
• Develop and deploy new data-driven tools, models, dashboards, or software to improve decision-making.
