Job summary

ITDS Business Consultants seeks a Senior IBM i (AS/400) Storage Replication & High Availability Engineer to lead resilient core banking systems. The role focuses on implementing storage-based replication across two IBM i sites, ensuring data integrity and continuous availability in a highly regulated banking environment.

Based in Europe with a remote work model, the candidate will configure SAN/fiber links, migrate from MIMIX, and build monitoring and runbooks for switchover and failback.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in IBM i (AS/400) systems administration and real-world delivery of IBM i replication projects.
• Proven hands-on experience with storage-based replication technologies such as IASP, PowerHA SystemMirror for i, and SAN-level copy solutions like Metro Mirror or Global Mirror.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with replication tools like Precisely MIMIX or Maxava, capable of safely decommissioning or upgrading solutions.
• Experience in HA/DR design, testing, switchover, failover, and failback processes tailored to regulated banking environments.
• Fluent English for effective collaboration with US teams, IBM, and Jack Henry.

Responsibilities

• Implement storage-based replication solutions between two IBM i sites, adhering to the design specifications in collaboration with IBM and key stakeholders.
• Configure and test SAN and fiber link setups, including initial synchronization, cutover, and failover procedures.
• Manage migration from MIMIX replication, ensuring data consistency and minimal disruption during transition.
• Develop and deploy monitoring and alert systems for real-time detection of replication issues.
• Provide expert advice on moving towards active-active configurations or higher availability architectures and assist in their implementation.
• Create detailed runbooks for switchover, failback, and troubleshooting replication failures for operational handover.
• Coordinate with Safra's change management processes, ensuring compliance when touching core banking systems.

As a Senior IBM i (AS/400) Storage Replication & High Availability Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leader in the banking industry, focusing on safeguarding and optimizing their core banking system. You will play a critical role in implementing a cutting-edge, storage-based replication setup for a highly available, disaster-resilient environment, helping the client achieve seamless data integrity and operational continuity.

Your main responsibilities:

• Implement storage-based replication solutions between two IBM i sites, adhering to the design specifications in collaboration with IBM and key stakeholders.

It's a strong plus if you have:

• Experience with IBM Power hardware and IBM Storage solutions (FlashSystem, DS8000).


• Scripting or tooling expertise for replication health checks and alerting systems (CL, SQL services).


• Prior work with French or other European banks running AS/400 cores.


• Relevant IBM i or PowerHA certifications.
