Job summary

Cloudflare in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a hands-on Senior Systems Engineer for Identity & Access Management. You will own authentication and authorization surfaces, including login, SSO, OAuth, API tokens, and SCIM provisioning, across a global-scale control plane.

You will design high-throughput, low-latency IAM capabilities, evolve distributed systems, and drive security-first API design with Product, Security, and UX teams. Expect a role with high autonomy and impact.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years building and operating production systems at scale.
• Identity protocols or fine-grained authorization systems experience (RBAC/ABAC, OIDC, OAuth, SAML, SCIM).
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, authentication, and authorization systems.
• Strong distributed systems intuition and knowledge of global state replication.
• Proficiency with Go and TypeScript and comfort across Cloudflare tech stack.

Responsibilities

• Feature development: high-throughput IAM capabilities for customer-facing and internal APIs.
• System evolution: design authentication/authorization systems for modern distributed architectures.
• API and system design: translate product and security requirements into robust APIs.
• Engineering excellence: code reviews, design docs, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Operational stewardship: ensure reliability under load with strong observability.
• AI-assisted development: leverage AI tools responsibly in workflows.
