Job summary

Scale AI’s Identity Engineering team seeks a senior engineer to design and implement core identity systems powering secure authentication and authorization across enterprise apps. You will contribute to SSO, MFA, federated identity solutions, and collaborate across teams to improve security posture.

The role emphasizes hands-on work with IAM tooling, RBAC/ABAC/ReBAC models, policy governance, and cloud platforms with strong communication to translate complex concepts for stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-time engineering experience in infrastructure and identity systems.
• IAM controls and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Hands-on with OpenFGA, Authzed, Cedar, Topaz or similar authorization frameworks at scale.
• Strong understanding of Zanzibar-based ReBAC models and access control evaluation.
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML and JWT; familiarity with IdP solutions like EntraID, Okta.
• Experience with distributed systems and public cloud platforms (AWS).
• Proven ability to own and deliver engineering projects independently.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, translating complex concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement identity infrastructure for secure authentication and authorization across enterprise systems.
• Build authentication mechanisms: SSO, MFA, and federated identity (SAML, OAuth, OIDC).
• Develop authorization mechanisms: RBAC, ABAC, ReBAC.
• Create identity governance policies to meet security policies and regulations.
• Present technical information to teams and stakeholders and provide guidance on identity management.
