Job summary

Brex is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Identity and Access Management (IAM) to lead backend authentication and authorization initiatives. You will scope and drive projects, collaborate across Brex, and evolve the identity platform with secure, scalable solutions for customers, partners, and internal systems.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and deploying backend applications.
• Strong API design fundamentals with emphasis on testing, code quality, and documentation.
• Experience leading complex projects and mentoring other engineers.
• Understanding of IAM concepts: authentication, authorization, SSO, OAuth, SAML, OIDC, RBAC.
• Clear communication and cross-team collaboration with a focus on reliability and security.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend systems and APIs for authentication and authorization.
• Lead engineers on initiatives end to end, from design through rollout and operating support.
• Improve login and access experiences across SSO, MFA, and enterprise identity flows.
• Build and extend authorization systems with roles and access controls.
• Create audit trails and attribution for user, service, and delegated actions.
• Partner with Brex teams to ensure secure-by-default IAM integrations and reusable patterns.
• Mentor engineers to deliver high-quality code and improve reliability.
