Job summary

LaunchDarkly is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for Identity & Access Management to own authentication surfaces end-to-end, including SSO, SCIM provisioning, login flows, MFA, and API key infrastructure.

You will build enterprise identity capabilities, enforce MFA by default, and maintain operability with SLOs, monitoring, and on-call processes while collaborating on security and compliance with SOC 2 and FedRAMP requirements.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software-engineering experience on backend applications.
• Experience building or operating production authentication and identity systems.
• Strong ownership including on-call and safe rollouts.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language and cloud infrastructure familiarity (AWS).

Responsibilities

• Own authentication surface end to end — SSO, SCIM provisioning, login and session flows, MFA, API key and token authentication.
• Build enterprise identity capabilities (additional IdP integrations, MFA enforcement).
• Make the stack operable: SLOs, monitoring, alerting, runbooks, on-call sustainability.
• Partner with Product Security on threat modeling, audit logging, compliance (SOC 2, FedRAMP).
• Set technical direction for identity and mentor teammates.
