Job summary

Elastic in Mountain View is seeking a backend engineer to help evolve and operate our IAM‑driven control plane services. You’ll work on Kubernetes orchestration, distributed systems, and oncall reliability, delivering secure, scalable cloud and on‑prem tooling.

You will collaborate across teams, write production‑grade code in JVM languages, and own incidents from detection to resolution while advancing automation and security practices.

Qualifications

• A track record of delivering high‑quality code to Production.
• Solid experience with JVM‑based languages.
• 3+ years backend engineering in IAM OR 5+ years backend experience.
• Passion for automation and quality.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and work asynchronously.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to IAM codebases powering Elastic Cloud offerings.
• Operate systems via oncall rotation and resolve incidents in Production.
• Collaborate with Support engineers to solve customer problems.
• Improve services for security, stability, and reliability.
• Design, build, and maintain software for cloud and on‑prem offerings.
• Debug production issues involving distributed systems, containers, and microservices.
