Job summary

Westlake Chemical Corporation is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to provide engineering support for production, maintenance, project and technical teams. You will enhance electrical system reliability, address repeat issues, and contribute to capital projects by specifying instrumentation and control systems.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and at least eight years in refinery, chemical, or petrochemical environments, with hands-on experience in controls,

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline or equivalent progressive engineering experience.
• Minimum eight years of experience in a refinery, chemical or petrochemical plant performing engineering design responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Investigate Control Valve and Analyzer equipment failures to determine root cause and suggest solutions to reduce recurrence.
• Evaluate preventive/predictive maintenance program and implement improvements.
• Recommend instrumentation for various process measurement applications.
• Provide technical support to Maintenance, Operations and Environmental groups on instrumentation issues.
• Develop job scopes and drawing packages for small instrumentation/electrical projects.
• Assist Project Group on instrumentation specification for capital projects and review design packages for reliability.
• Maintain instrumentation database with tag, manufacturer, model, calibration history.
• Ensure documentation on instrumentation/electrical equipment including files, drawings, specs and manuals.
• Stay updated on instrumentation technology and its application to plant equipment improvements.
• Support reliability of process gas chromatographs and mass spectrometry analyzers; assist with additions and upgrades.
• Improve reliability of process control valves; monitor performance and assist in repair/upgrade scopes for turnarounds.
• Adhere to Safety procedures; participate in weekly and monthly safety meetings; report incidents.
• Familiarize with motors in the 100-5000 Hp range, their starting/running characteristics and applications.
