Job summary

Oracle US in Nashville, TN, is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Power Generation Engineer for an on-site role supporting mission-critical data center power infrastructure.

You will design, integrate, commission, and ensure operational readiness of controls for gas turbines, generator sets, and related protection, automation, and cybersecurity measures, with 25%+ travel and relocation assistance where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Controls/Instrumentation/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years experience in I&C design, commissioning, operation, or maintenance for power-generation systems.
• Strong knowledge of gas turbine and generator control systems, paralleling, synchronization, and load sharing.
• Experience with PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, and industrial networking.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, control narratives, cause‑and‑effect matrices, I/O lists, and wiring diagrams.
• Proven track record leading projects from design through turnover and commissioning.
• Excellent collaboration, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Willingness to support 24/7 critical operations and emergency events.

Responsibilities

• Serve as I&C SME for power-generation systems from design through turnover and operations support.
• Define controls architecture, instrumentation requirements, automation philosophy, and alarm/cause‑and‑effect matrices.
• Design and review control systems for gas turbines, reciprocating and diesel/NG generators, and related equipment.
• Specify, review, and validate PLCs, DCS platforms, generator control panels, turbine controls, SCADA, and HMIs.
• Ensure reliable integration among generator controls, switchgear, protection relays, UPS, and data center systems.
• Lead reviews of OEM/contractor proposals, FATs, SATs, and software configurations.
• Support commissioning through installation verification, loop checks, tests, and change control.
• Develop commissioning procedures for calibration, sequencing, startup, synchronization, and load testing.
• Diagnose faults, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Establish operating procedures, alarm handling, backup, and training materials.
• Ensure turnover packages include as‑built drawings, narratives, and documentation.
