Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer for the San Francisco or Los Angeles area. You will lead I&C design, mentor multi-disciplinary teams, and manage complex projects while ensuring compliance with client requirements and industry standards.

The role emphasizes hands-on control systems development, project planning, and collaboration with international teams, with a hybrid work model and opportunities for growth in life sciences facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years' experience as Control Systems Engineer.
• Experience in Bio Pharma, Pharmaceutical & Lab process Instrumentation and controls.
• Knowledge of International codes like ASME BPE, Dairy, Hygienic systems (Process, water system, Clean steam etc).
• Knowledge Life Science Industry Automation, DCS and PLC control systems, and development of P&ID’s, control system architectures and design deliverables
• Must be able to travel to client’s facilities for presentations, site surveys and field assignments

Responsibilities

• Lead I&C engineering and design activities for assigned projects.
• Manage domestic and international teams; provide mentorship and training.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, Jacobs standards, and applicable industry regulations.
• Develop project scopes of work, manhour estimates, I&C Execution Plans, and define resources.
• Function as the I&C lead through all project phases and coordinate staffing with Department Manager.
• Perform tiered reviews of project deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills, train, drive change, and implement improvements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with SmartPlant, Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu.
