Job summary

SPG Consulting in Pleasanton, CA seeks an experienced VMware administrator to install, configure, and manage ESXi hosts and vCenter, with a strong focus on migration and infrastructure reliability.

The role covers HA/DRS, resource pools, vMotion, P2V, storage management, and VM lifecycle tasks. Cross-training for Hyper-V migration, escalation leadership, and migration runbook maintenance are key expectations.

Qualifications

• Strong infrastructure administration and migration experience.
• Client-facing and troubleshooting capabilities preferred.
• Experience with VMware technology and cross-hypervisor knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and manage VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter Server.
• Manage HA, DRS, Resource Pools and VMware Clusters.
• Manage VMware Lifecycle Manager for patching and firmware compliance.
• Perform VM migrations: vMotion, Cold Migration, P2V.
• Storage administration: datastore expansion, performance monitoring, VMDK management.
• VM administration: snapshots, VMware Tools, CPU/Memory expansion, backups recovery.
• Troubleshoot complex issues; escalate to L3; root-cause analysis.
• Support migration projects and maintain runbooks; ensure security and data protection compliance.
