Job summary

Phoenix Tailings in the United States seeks a Senior Process Engineer- Hydrometallurgist to lead hands-on development, optimization, and scale-up of hydrometallurgical systems for critical and rare earth metals production. You will translate lab results into scalable designs and work with R&D, engineering, and pilot operations teams to design experiments and guide junior staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline
5+ years in hydrometallurgy, wet chemistry, chemical process development, or related metals refining
Hands-on hydrometallurgical operations: leaching, precipitation, filtration, purification, crystallization
Experience translating lab data into pilot- or commercial-scale decisions

Responsibilities

Lead design, execution, and analysis of hydrometallurgical experiments
Develop and optimize process conditions for lab to pilot scale
Translate results into diagrams, mass balances, operating windows, equipment specs
Provide technical leadership for wet chemistry and process troubleshooting
Support equipment sizing and selection for reactors and separators
Lead root-cause analysis for process performance issues
Collaborate to develop pilot-scale test plans and SOPs
Mentor junior engineers and technicians
Maintain records and prepare reports for design reviews
Support scale-up from R&D to commercial deployment
