Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• Minimum of 10 years structural engineering experience related to building design.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS and SAFE or similar analytical software.
• Experience in design calculations and layouts.
• Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood.
• Understanding of gravity and lateral analysis.
• Experience with engineering consulting or architectural/engineering firms preferred.
• Active participation in employee-owned culture is expected.

Responsibilities

• Conduct structural analyses, evaluations and designs; develop design options or recommendations.
• Prepare contract documents including drawings, specifications, design documentation and criteria, and cost estimates including critical reports.
• Lead design of hydraulic structures such as dams, spillways, gates and related components.
• Address unique structural elements with limited or no code guidance.
• Coordinate structural design with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Provide oversight and mentorship as project engineer; help expand HDR’s structural engineering services.
• Review tasks to ensure complete checks of design assumptions, calculations and code compliance.
• Perform inspections and structural assessments of existing structures.
