Job summary

Guy Carpenter is seeking a talented actuarial professional to join our reinsurance actuarial services team in the United States. This hybrid role requires at least three days in the office each week and focuses on risk analyses, broker collaboration, and mentoring junior staff.

You will perform calculations with specialty models, review client data, build predictive model inputs, and share results to support reinsurance transactions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Data Science, Economics, Accounting, Physics, or a related field.
• 2+ years of actuarial or related experience in underwriting, brokerage, or P&C insurance, with at least one actuarial exam completed.
• Curious, proactive, and growth-oriented, with the ability to lead internal initiatives and research projects to completion.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to brokers and clients.
• Collaborative, team-oriented, and proficient in MS Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
• 1+ year of experience or internship in insurance or reinsurance.
• Familiarity with R, Python, SQL, Alteryx, or Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Communicates directly with brokers regarding client needs and advises on reinsurance programs based on risk tolerance and industry trends.
• Performs calculations using specialty models and client data to assess risk exposures and project outcomes.
• Reviews client data for reasonableness, loads data into predictive models, runs analyses, and shares results with brokers to support the reinsurance transaction process.
• Directs junior team members in analyzing industry and regulatory developments that may affect loss liabilities and client outcomes.
• Independently builds more complex MetaRisk analyses and uses the model to explain assumptions and results.
• Establishes and maintains relationships with brokers, reinsurers, and clients to support new business development in reinsurance actuarial services.
