Placements24 seeks a Senior Automotive Powertrain Engineer for hybrid and electric vehicle systems, based in Upington with hybrid work flexibility. You will design, simulate, calibrate and validate advanced powertrains, collaborating with electrical, software and mechanical teams to optimize performance and emissions.

The role demands a strong background in ICE and electric traction with BMS, CAN and power electronics, plus hands-on testing experience and clear technical documentation.

Formación

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with automotive focus.
• Minimum 6 years in automotive powertrain development, hybrid/electric experience.
• Strong knowledge of ICE, motors, BMS, and power electronics.

Responsabilidades

• Design and develop hybrid powertrain architectures integrating ICE, motors, batteries and power electronics.
• Run system-level simulations to optimize performance, efficiency and emissions.
• Develop and calibrate control strategies for hybrid powertrains.
• Plan and execute testing and validation in simulation and on-vehicle.
• Troubleshoot issues and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams.
• Analyze test data and recommend design improvements.
• Stay updated on hybrid/EV tech and contribute to technical reports.
