Job summary

Charter Communications is seeking a Software Engineer VII to boost cloud infrastructure and build self-service platforms. The role emphasizes Node.js development, Kubernetes orchestration, and event-driven design with Kafka, MongoDB, NoSQL, and comprehensive API/UI work.

You will mentor teammates, participate in architecture discussions, and translate business needs into scalable platform engineering objectives within a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6+ years of experience with Agile development.
• 5+ years using JavaScript for frontend/back-end.
• 2+ years performing event queuing with Kafka.

Responsibilities

• Unify and improve cloud infrastructure and services.
• Build self-service platforms that orchestrate complex workflows and reduce manual steps.
• Develop software in Node.js for APIs, UI, databases, queues, and event systems.
• Package containerized services for integration into releases; use Kubernetes for virtualized infra.
• Mentor junior developers and drive sprint goals; conduct code reviews and improvement plans.
• Translate business requirements into scalable platform components; collaborate with stakeholders.
• Use modular software architecture to enable scaling of large applications.
• Implement event queuing/subscription with Kafka to trigger/consume events.
