American Express is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer in Tallahassee to design and deliver scalable cloud-based services on our hybrid cloud platform for critical applications.

The role emphasizes REST APIs, CI/CD, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, security integrations (Okta, mTLS, SSO, Vault), code quality, testing, and automation. Amex Flex and a flexible hybrid/onsite work model apply.

Qualifications

Bachelors in Software Engineering or equivalent.
4+ years in cloud design and multi-cloud environments.
Experience building REST APIs with GoLang or Java.
Hands-on with Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker and CI/CD tooling.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Understanding of security integrations (Okta, mTLS, SSO, Vault).

Responsibilities

Develop scalable cloud-native services within the hybrid cloud platform.
Automate delivery and deployment of cloud-based services.
Collaborate with API, UI, QA, and product teams on scalable solutions.
Research new technologies and apply modern development practices.
Implement API/Middleware integrations and ensure security measures.
Promote code quality, testing, and code review practices.
