Job summary

The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) seeks a dedicated team player to join us in maintaining a high-quality statewide transportation system.

Pay rate starts at $20.390/hour with eligibility for promotion to Highway Maintenance Worker/Senior at $21.953/hour for qualified CDL-certified staff. Additional CDL pay differentials apply after 1, 3, and 5 years of continuous service.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Senior: Class A/B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements within 60 days.
• Preferred: experience operating heavy equipment or farming background; CDL with tanker endorsement.
• Requires Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within 90 days.
• Basic computer experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate Striping/Bridge Crew equipment such as pavement stripers and support vehicles.
• Move, load, unload, and manage equipment and materials within weight limits.
• Identify maintenance needs and assist with equipment servicing; maintain yards.
• Operate various highway maintenance machinery (trucks, loaders, graders, etc.).
• Patch roads and structures; repair signs, bridges, culverts, and snow-related infrastructure.
• Work in all weather conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
