Job summary

Orange County Public Schools is seeking a skilled HVAC trades technician to perform master level air conditioning and HVAC work across school facilities. You will install, maintain, repair, and service systems in assigned regions, read blueprints and diagrams, calibrate controls, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Requires vocational training in HVAC/refrigeration and a minimum of 5 years of experience, with ability to obtain a CDL Class D, IPCS screening, and strong diagnostic skills.

Qualifications

• Vocational/technical training in heating, air condition, refrigeration and ventilation required.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively knowledgeable and skilled trades work, preferably in a large commercial or industrial setting.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
• Requires ability to obtain and maintain a valid CDL Class D license; refrigerant handling training is required.
• IPCS screening must be completed by new hires after August 24, 2009.

Responsibilities

• Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, courteous manner representing OCPS.
• Performs skilled to advanced HVAC trades work in installation, repair, maintenance and service across assigned region.
• Reads blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals for installations or service orders.
• Installs, maintains or services HVAC systems and components and calibrates controls.
• Troubleshoots and repairs electronic, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control systems.
• Performs preventive maintenance and monitors system performance per schedule.
• Ensures compliance with codes and safety standards for installation, service and repair.
• Maintains work orders, purchase orders, and daily activity logs.
