Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care's Engineering Services is seeking an Environmental Systems Mechanic III to lead installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC and environmental systems at North Liberty Medical Center. The role runs 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Mon-Fri with weekend rotation, focusing on reliability and optimization of cooling, heating, and control systems. Responsibilities include operating chillers and automation systems, performing EPA-compliant refrigerant work, and training

Qualifications

Eight years of experience in computerized building environmental automation systems or refrigeration, plus two years in optimization changes.
Refrigeration certificate of at least type 2.
Valid driver’s license and compliance with Fleet Safety Program.
Journeyman license required.
Prefer 2 years of college or trade school.

Responsibilities

Operate, inspect, maintain, and repair chillers and related equipment.
Perform leak tests and handle refrigerants per EPA regulations.
Analyze building automation systems and modify control strategies for reliability.
Provide guidance and training to apprentices and staff.
Collaborate with engineers on system optimization and upgrades.
