Job summary

AdventHealth Merriam in Kansas is seeking an HVAC/R Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair hospital heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. Responsibilities include installing and inspecting equipment, preparing preventive maintenance schedules, reading blueprints, coordinating with teams, and ensuring patient care continuity.

Qualifications: high school or equivalent, 5+ years HVAC/R, 2+ years healthcare maintenance; valid driver’s license; read/write English; and ability to document

Qualifications

• Must have high school or equivalent education or 5+ years experience.
• Experience with HVAC/R in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Able to read and follow blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Complies with healthcare, federal, state and local regulations.
• Installs, inspects, maintains, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on HVAC systems.
• Coordinates electrical equipment maintenance and code-compliant modifications.
• Supports painting, plumbing, HVAC, locksmith and alarm system maintenance.
• Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical machinery and equipment as needed.

Job Description:

Shift - Monday - Friday 7:30AM-4PM on call every 5th week

• Complies with healthcare, federal, state, and local rules and regulations. Develops and implements departmental equipment procedures for power outages.
• Installs, inspects, maintains, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on all heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems. Prepares the preventive maintenance schedule and produces reports.
• Coordinates and performs electrical equipment maintenance, installations, and modifications per all applicable codes and regulations.
• Assists in the operation and general maintenance of painting, plumbing, HVAC, locksmith, and alarm systems, overseeing essential repairs and other duties.
• Troubleshoots, tests, and repairs mechanical machinery, equipment, systems, and physical structures as scheduled or needed under limited guidance.

• Ability to identify equipment needs, parts and supplies, and maintain adequate inventory. [Required]
• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English. [Required]
• Must have the ability to document records neatly and accurately. [Required]
• Ability to generate requisitions for materials and supplies. [Required]
• Ability to assign priority and teams in a timely manner. [Required]
• Ability to instruct others as per blueprints and work from sketches. [Required]
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form. [Required]
• Ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. [Required]
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. [Required]
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volumes. [Required]
• Knowledge of safe handling tools and equipment. [Required]
• Basic Microsoft office computer skills. [Required]

Education:

• High School/Equivalent grad OR 5+ years experience [Required]
