Job summary

Kauai Air Conditioning & Plumbing is seeking an experienced HVAC Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain residential and light commercial systems across our island service area. You’ll work independently in the field, communicating clearly with customers and documenting service calls.

You’ll handle refrigerant work, leak checks, and preventive maintenance, read electrical diagrams, and mentor junior technicians while upholding EPA 608 standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• EPA 608 Certification (current and in good standing).
• Valid driver's license required.
• 1+ year of HVAC service experience preferred.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors, on roofs, and in attics or crawlspaces.

Responsibilities

• Independently diagnose and repair common AC system issues—boards, motors, capacitors, relays, and thermostats.
• Assist senior technicians on more complex service calls.
• Perform preventive maintenance and service work: clean filters, coils, drain pans, and inspect components.
• Take temperature and pressure readings and communicate findings to customers and office.
• Perform leak detection and repair minor refrigerant leaks.
• Recover and recharge refrigerant per EPA 608 standards; track quantities in Service Titan.
• Read and interpret electrical diagrams to support diagnostics and repairs.
• Build service-call documentation in Service Titan with findings and recommendations.
• Generate field estimates and present repair options to customers.
• Manage full service-call route independently; handle after-hours calls when needed.
• Mentor Maintenance Technicians on the jobsite.
