Job summary

Kauai Air Conditioning & Plumbing in Hawaii is seeking an experienced HVAC Service Technician to diagnose, repair and maintain residential and light commercial systems. You will work independently in the field, building strong customer relationships and delivering high-quality service.

Responsibilities include performing diagnostics, refrigerant work, preventive maintenance, and minor installs while mentoring junior technicians and documenting every service call in Service Titan.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• EPA 608 Certification in good standing.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• 1+ year HVAC service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair common AC issues including boards, motors, capacitors, relays, and thermostats.
• Assist senior technicians on complex service calls to develop advanced diagnostic skills.
• Perform preventive maintenance: clean filters, coils, drain pans, and inspect components.
• Take temperature and pressure readings; interpret findings for customers and office.
• Detect leaks using UV dye, electronic detectors, soap bubble, and nitrogen testing; repair minor leaks.
• Recover and recharge refrigerant per EPA 608; track refrigerant in Service Titan.
• Read electrical diagrams to support diagnostics and repairs.
• Document service calls with diagnostics, parts used, refrigerant tracking, and recommendations.
• Generate accurate field estimates and present repair options to customers.
• Maintain clean, organized jobsite and vehicle; work independently on full routes.
