Job summary

First Call Heating & Cooling in Oregon City, OR is seeking an experienced HVAC Service Technician to diagnose and repair residential heating and cooling systems. You will service gas and oil furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductless systems while delivering exceptional customer service.

You will read wiring diagrams, communicate clearly with customers, mentor junior technicians, participate in on-call shifts, and document service work accurately as part of a safety‑minded,

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years residential HVAC diagnostic and repair experience.
• Brazing certification required.
• EPA 608 certification required.
• NATE certification required within 2 years of employment.
• Low voltage license preferred or willingness to obtain within 2 years.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to diagnose advanced system issues and recommend repairs.
• Experience maintaining residential and light commercial equipment.
• Knowledge of duct design and air balancing principles.
• Accurate paperwork and checklists completion.
• Reliable attendance and adherence to policies.
• Willingness to take initiative and leadership responsibility.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable on extension/step ladders; able to work in attics, crawl spaces, confined areas.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on residential heating and cooling systems.
• Service and maintain gas and oil furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductless systems.
• Troubleshoot difficult or unusual HVAC system issues.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers.
• Educate customers on preventative maintenance, repair options, and system accessories.
• Complete service documentation accurately and thoroughly.
• Collect payment on COD service calls as needed.
• Help resolve customer concerns and ensure high satisfaction.
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergencies.
• Support and mentor junior technicians when needed.
• Maintain professional appearance and positive attitude.
• Follow company procedures, safety standards, and supervisor direction.
