Job summary

University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking an HVAC/R Technician at levels III/IV to maintain and repair campus HVAC and refrigeration systems. The role requires upgrading skills across building systems, EMCS monitoring, and collaboration with internal teams and vendors.

The position supports a broad range of equipment, with on-site duties across campus in Lincoln, NE. Candidates should have HVAC-R education and multiple years of relevant experience, with EPA 608 certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in HVAC-R or related field or equivalent experience.
• 1+ year experience with refrigeration equipment in residential or light-duty commercial systems.
• 2+ years experience with HVAC maintenance and repair.
• Ability to read and understand complex technical information.
• Strong time management, documentation and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of HVAC procedures, codes, and safety practices.
• EPA 608 Type I/II or Universal certification.
• Valid driver’s license and campus DUI policy compliance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair HVAC equipment per manufacturer specs.
• Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical systems and spaces.
• Understand how HVAC relates to each building and campus systems.
• Service, install, repair, and replace refrigeration systems.
• Use EMCS to monitor and control equipment conditions.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors.
• Complete work orders and use electronic timekeeping daily.
• Train and mentor junior staff and verify work of others.
