Job summary

Rheem Midwest Distribution, part of Rheem Manufacturing Company, seeks a Purchasing Agent III to drive cost-effective procurement of HVAC equipment and supplies. You will maintain our ERP (P21) to support growing operations and collaborate with multiple departments to align inventory with business needs.

The role requires 5+ years of purchasing experience, ERP knowledge, and strong negotiation skills. On-site position with locations in Wisconsin (Kimberly/West Allis/Madison).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of purchasing experience or knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
• HVAC industry experience or knowledge preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems (P21) preferred.
• Ability to think critically and logically under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation.
• Excellent time management and ability to multitask.
• Ability to collaborate and work independently.
• Build strong working relationships with staff, customers, and suppliers.
• Use independent judgement to respond to customer needs and solve problems.
• Ability to present business cases for inventory decisions.
• Educate team members on HVAC product features/benefits.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute standardized purchasing procedures and processes across all company locations.
• Assure and maintain outstanding levels of customer service for both internal and external customers.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency gains for the business and customers.
• Meet and negotiate with suppliers to deliver best value.
• Source products and services to support sales team and customer inquiries.
• Maintain technical competence for HVAC equipment, supplies and services.
• Stay proficient in using ERP system (P21) and Blue Ridge platform to place orders and manage inventory activities.
• Support marketing in monthly advertising and promotions to keep teams informed and grow sales.
• Work with Operations and Accounts Payable on supplier damage and shipping errors.
• Eliminate dead and nonperforming inventory.
• Create custom reports using White Cup.
• Support Blue Hawk buying cooperative as needed.
• Track and manage rebate opportunities with suppliers.
• Foster a positive, flexible, team-oriented attitude.
• Travel to other branches and vendor facilities as needed.
• Perform other duties to support the business.
