Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority seeks a Senior Maintenance Mechanic to keep HVAC systems and critical facilities running smoothly at RDU. The role fixes a range of equipment from air conditioning to boilers and chillers, and supports 24/7 operations during severe weather or incidents.

The position is essential, on-site, with a 2nd shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and shift differentials for second shift staff. Safety and teamwork are core values here.

Formación

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years of experience in directly related trade; 7 years preferred.
• Valid NC Driver’s License required; state heating license preferred; CDL class B may be required in some roles.

Responsabilidades

• Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains direct expansion air conditioning units.
• Maintains pumps (1 hp to 100 hp) and AHUs/ventilation systems.
• Operates boilers, hot water systems, chillers, cooling towers, and VFDs.
• Monitors and operates Building Management Systems; supports HVAC water treatment.
• Work schedule: 2nd shift 2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.; Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday.

About the Role:

Ensures smooth and efficient operation of the HVAC systems, keeping the RDU Airport Authority facilities running like a well-tuned aircraft. This role navigates through a variety of maintenance challenges, much like a skilled pilot adapting to changing conditions, ensuring the safe and reliable function of our public facility. Additionally, the Senior Maintenance Mechanic plays a crucial role in weather-related operations, such as snow removal or hurricane preparedness, ensuring our 24/7 operation remains airborne without turbulence. This is a 2nd shift position, working from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The schedule will be either Sunday through Thursday (with Friday and Saturday off) or Tuesday through Saturday (with Sunday and Monday off).

Compensation:

• Maximum – Based on experience

**Employees working second shift are eligible for a $1.00 per hour shift differential.

What You’ll Do:

Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains:

• Direct expansion air conditioning units
• A variety of pumps associated with HVAC, from 1 hp to 100 hp throughout the airport
• The airport's AHUs and ventilation systems
• Boilers and hot water system
• Chillers and chilled water system
• Cooling towers
• Variable frequency drives
• Monitors and operates all RDU Building Management Systems
• Maintains and assists with HVAC water treatment.
