Job summary

HTS Engineering Ltd. is seeking a Senior HVAC & Facilities Maintenance Tech to install, service, and optimize commercial HVAC systems across multiple properties.

You will read schematics, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure energy efficiency while upholding safety standards. The role requires hands-on repair of HVAC/R equipment, proficiency with diagnostic tools, knowledge of BAS, and EPA refrigerant handling certification.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Install HVAC systems per schematics and design specs.
  • Perform routine maintenance on HVAC equipment for peak performance and energy efficiency.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration issues using diagnostic tools.
  • Repair or replace faulty components within HVAC systems including wiring, compressors, and control panels.
  • Troubleshoot complex system failures involving electrical, plumbing, and BAS.
  • Read and interpret schematics, manuals, and blueprints to guide work.
  • Test equipment post-repair to verify proper operation.
  • Maintain detailed service records and inspection reports.
  • Ensure compliance with EPA refrigerant handling standards.

Duties

  • Install new HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and ventilation systems in accordance with schematics and design specifications
  • Perform routine maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure peak performance and energy efficiency
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters
  • Repair or replace faulty components within HVAC systems, including electrical wiring, compressors, fans, pumps, and control panels
  • Troubleshoot complex system failures involving electrical diagnostics, plumbing connections, and building automation systems
  • Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and blueprints to guide installation and repair processes
  • Conduct testing of equipment post-repair to verify proper operation and compliance with safety standards
  • Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and inspection reports for all performed tasks
  • Ensure all work complies with EPA regulations regarding refrigerant handling and environmental safety standards
  • Provide excellent customer service by explaining system issues clearly and recommending appropriate solutions

Skills

  • Proven experience in construction or property maintenance environments with a focus on HVAC systems
  • Service technician experience with hands-on repair of HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration) equipment
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of HVAC components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, fans, pumps, valves, and boilers
  • Ability to read schematics accurately and apply HVAC design principles during installation or troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in electrical diagnostics using tools like ohmmeters and wiring diagrams
  • Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) for controlling HVAC functions within commercial buildings
  • Skilled in plumbing related to HVAC systems including refrigerant piping and drainage connections
  • Experience with equipment troubleshooting across various mechanical systems including ammonia refrigeration units when applicable
  • Familiarity with welding techniques for repairing or fabricating ductwork or metal components
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to operate field service vehicles safely
  • EPA certification for refrigerant handling; knowledge of environmental regulations governing refrigerants and hazardous materials
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients
  • Mechanical or mechanic experience combined with hands-on appliance repair skills enhances versatility in the role
