Job summary

APTIM is seeking senior mechanical engineers to join our team serving government and commercial programs. This role involves leading design, calculation, and field support across HVAC systems, piping, and energy facilities, with opportunities to work on domestic and international projects.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering, 10+ years of experience, PE, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years related experience.
• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and technical engineering software, some CADD experience)
• Candidates must be willing to travel for infrequent field assignments.
• Mechanical, plumbing experience is a plus.
• Nuclear experience is a plus.
• Field experience is a plus.
• Construction experience and certifications a plus.
• Must be a US Citizen and be able to pass a background check to gain access to government facilities.
• PE is a requirement.
• Certified Energy Manager is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways on HVAC/mechanical systems.
• Apply knowledge of HVAC codes (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ACGIH).
• Perform load calculations and duct sizing.
• Size and specify HVAC equipment (AHU, DX units, chillers, pumps, towers, boilers).
• Lead and train junior engineers; provide engineering oversight.
• Develop design basis, specifications, and detailed engineering.
• Ensure conformance to codes and company policies.
• Travel to sites to support engineering efforts and meetings.
