Job summary

NY Building Systems Consultant Inc. is seeking a Senior HVAC Engineer for our design and build team in New York City. The candidate should have 4+ years of HVAC design experience with a strong background in energy savings and building performance.

Responsibilities include load calculations, system design, and adherence to codes (NYCECC, ASHRAE). Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is preferred, with PE/LEED AP being advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 4+ years of experience in commercial and residential HVAC design.
• PE license preferred, LEED AP preferred.
• Experience with Revit and AutoCAD workflows preferred.
• Interest in building design and energy savings meaningful.

Responsibilities

• Perform load calculations and energy modeling for HVAC systems.
• Design mechanical systems including heating, cooling, distribution, ventilation and controls.
• Apply NYCECC, CMR, IMC, ASHRAE standards in designs.
• Familiar with LL97, LL87, energy auditing and commissioning.
• Prepare contract drawings using AutoCAD.
• Select equipment and manage small projects with client liaison.

NYBSC Energy and Engineering team is comprised of individuals with complete industry certifications including NYS & CTS Registered Professional Engineers (PE), Existing Building Commissioning Professional (EBCP), Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) and Certified Energy Manager (CEM).

Experience

You should have demonstrated experience in at least five of the following areas:

• Load calculations and some Energy modeling experience
• Design mechanical systems including: heating, cooling, heat rejection, air and water distribution, ventilation, air conditioning, building automation and controls.
• Familiarity with codes, specifically NYCECC, CMR, IMC, ASHRAE standards 55, 62.1, 90.1
• Familiar with LL97, LL87, energy auditing and commissioning.
• Prepare contract drawings detailing the designed systems using AutoCAD.
• Select equipment for use in building systems.
• Manage a small project, work area or technical skill set, monitor quality of work, and is involved in client liaison.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a sound knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
• 4+ years of experience in commercial and residential HVAC design.
• PE License preferred.
• LEED AP preferred.
• Experience in Revit preferred.
• Proven interest in the field of building design and energy savings.
