Job summary

Munters Corporation is seeking an HVAC Design Engineer to join its Research & Development team in Daleville, VA. The role focuses on next-generation cooling technology, including two-phase direct-to-chip cooling, for data centers and AI computing.

You’ll design, prototype, test, and validate advanced cooling systems and collaborate across functions to bring concepts to manufacturing release. The ideal candidate has 5–7+ years in HVAC/refrigeration design, strong thermodynamics knowledge,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5-7+ years of relevant engineering experience in HVAC/refrigeration.
• Experience designing cooling or refrigeration equipment.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluids, and refrigeration cycles.
• Hands-on prototype development, laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced HVAC, refrigeration, and two-phase cooling equipment.
• Create engineering specifications, BOMs, design docs, and prototype assemblies.
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and refrigeration principles to optimize performance.
• Build and test prototypes, analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and propose design improvements.
• Develop test plans, document results, and support verification/validation.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, quality, controls, sourcing, and cross-functional teams.
• Support product development from concept to manufacturing release.
• Work with suppliers and external partners to resolve technical challenges.
