Job summary

Penn State University is seeking an HVAC Technician to service, repair, and install heating, cooling, and ventilation systems across campus facilities. The role involves maintaining chilled water systems, adjusting controls, and overseeing apprentices under the lead technician.

A valid driver’s license and a background suited to a trade are required. Work days are Tue–Sat with early morning shifts; a strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and adherence to union guidelines applies.

Qualifications

• Advanced shop mathematics and reading drawings, specs, charts, and tables.
• Equivalent to an accredited indentured apprenticeship or high school plus 2-year technical college.
• 2–3 years of effective experience.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair, and replace HVAC systems and coils.
• Install and maintain chilled water systems and related controls.
• Inspect and adjust building temperature controls across seasons.
• Direct lower grade employees and apprentices as required.
• Operate a motor vehicle as required.
• Repair dampers, ducts, and related components.
