Job summary
The Washoe County School District is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to perform senior-level maintenance on boilers, HVAC, refrigeration, and related equipment. This role serves as a technical consultant, diagnosing and repairing systems, conducting safety testing, and maintaining logs and inventories.
Work may include day, swing, or graveyard shifts; the position supports Facilities Management and Nutrition Services as needed, ensuring compliance with district and regulatory
Qualifications
- Education: HVAC apprenticeship or trade school with boiler/HVAC coursework.
- Five years journey-level boiler/HVAC experience; supervisory exposure preferred.
- EPA Certification; Universal certification required within probation period.
- AHERA and OSHA lead remediation training within first 12 months.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and repair boilers and HVAC systems; ensure safe operation.
- Diagnose equipment issues, perform complex mechanical repairs and testing.
- Maintain records, inventory, and schedules; provide guidance to staff.
- Coordinate preparation for annual inspections and regulatory compliance.
