Job summary

root/edge is a venture-backed manufacturer of power transformers, distribution transformers and switchgear rethinking how grid equipment is built. You will own the electrical design of transformers (230kV/345kV) from RFQ to factory test, working with US customers, sales engineering, mechanical and controls engineers, and partner factories.

Designs ship in months, not years. You will apply IEEE/ANSI/IEC standards, run simulations with Ansys Maxwell and MATLAB, and help build internal design

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.
• 7+ years in transformer electrical design.

Responsibilities

• Own the electrical design of transformers from concept to test.
• Review RFQs and prepare compliant quotes with cost and execution risk.
• Prepare calculations, drawings and reports per IEEE/ANSI/IEC.
• Use Ansys Maxwell, Andersen, MATLAB for performance, cost.
• Lead design reviews and defend decisions.
• Support prototype and production builds and root cause analysis.
• Help build internal design standards as the team grows.
