Job summary
HDR Engineering is seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to join our Power Delivery team in Florida. The role focuses on high voltage transmission lines and substations up to 500kV, including steel structure design and foundation work.
You will lead engineering tasks, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with PMs across multiple offices to deliver high-quality projects while adhering to HDR's QMS standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
- Professional Engineer license (PE or P.Eng) is required.
- Minimum 10 years structural engineering experience related to building design.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar tools.
- Experience with steel, concrete, masonry and wood design.
- Understanding of gravity and lateral analysis.
Responsibilities
- Lead, oversee, review, and/or execute structural engineering tasks for transmission line and substation projects.
- Perform foundation design tasks (drilled piers, spread footings, grillage, piles).
- Support transmission line design tasks (PLS-CADD modeling, structure spotting).
- Prepare equipment specifications for procurement or factory acceptance testing.
- Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with PMs and project teams.
- Ensure quality checks per HDR QMS and collaborate across offices.
