Job summary

BETA Technologies is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to own the high voltage protection system for our aircraft, from first-principles analysis through testing to type certification. You will build and validate fault models, design test campaigns, and integrate with aircraft simulations to support certification.

The role demands deep expertise in electrical engineering, system modeling, data analysis, and hands-on HV experience.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree with relevant electrical engineering/physics background.
• 5+ years building and validating models of real-world systems (MATLAB/Simulink or Python).
• Familiarity with power systems and high voltage protection concepts.
• Experience contributing to HV system design in EV or HVDC contexts.
• Ability to synthesize large data sets into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Lead fuse coordination and fault protection modeling for HV system behavior.
• Design and execute full-scale HV protection tests with DAQ hardware.
• Develop battery and protection models integrated with aircraft-level simulations.
• Collaborate with HV, mechanical, software, and systems teams for certification.
• Improve models and testing strategies based on data-driven findings.
