General Linen Service is seeking an in-person Human Resources leader to enhance the employee experience through recruiting, onboarding, engagement, and retention. The role partners with leadership to support current and future talent needs while ensuring compliance and leading safety initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 8–10 years of human resource management experience.
  • 3–5 years of recruitment and retention success.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate.
  • Maintain integrity and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting, including postings, sourcing, interviewing, and selection.
  • Oversee daily workflow and ensure timely candidate placement.
  • Develop onboarding programs for seamless new-hire integration (first 90 days).
  • Provide performance evaluations and support coaching and succession planning.
  • Handle disciplinary actions per policy and conduct investigations as needed.
  • Execute talent strategy with focus on recruitment, retention, and succession.
  • Design innovative recruiting strategies to attract high-quality candidates.
  • Develop retention programs and monitor turnover with corrective actions.
  • Analyze compensation trends and propose competitive base and incentive pay.
  • Drive employee engagement surveys and implement action plans.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws; stay current on regulatory changes.
  • Lead safety and compliance initiatives (lockout/tagout, PPE).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

General Linen Service is seeking an in-person Human Resources leader who will help build a strong employee experience through recruiting, onboarding, engagement, and retention. This role partners with leadership to support current and future talent needs, while also maintaining compliance and leading safety initiatives. If you thrive in a hands‑on environment and want to influence how people move through the organization, this position is designed for that impact.

What you’ll do
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train new department staff, including leading the full-cycle recruiting process (job postings, sourcing, interviewing, and selection) in collaboration with department heads.
  • Oversee daily departmental workflow and ensure timely, effective candidate placement.
  • Develop and implement onboarding programs that accelerate new hire integration and productivity, supporting a positive experience from offer acceptance through the first 90 days.
  • Provide constructive, timely performance evaluations and support managers with performance management, coaching, and succession planning.
  • Handle discipline and termination in accordance with company policy, including overseeing disciplinary meetings, investigations, and terminations.
  • Partner with leadership to execute the organization’s talent strategy, with emphasis on recruiting, retention, and succession planning aligned to talent needs.
  • Design innovative recruiting strategies to attract high-quality candidates and build and maintain a strong employer brand.
  • Develop retention strategies, including career development programs, recognition initiatives, and employee feedback mechanisms; monitor turnover trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyze compensation and benefits trends, researching and proposing competitive base and incentive pay programs to attract and retain top talent.
  • Drive continuous improvement in employee satisfaction using engagement surveys and action plans.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, review policies and practices, and stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies to improve HR processes using data.
  • Lead company-wide safety and compliance initiatives, including lockout tagout procedures and PPE requirements, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What you bring
  • Minimum 8-10 years of human resource management experience.
  • Demonstrated recruitment and retention success for 3-5 years.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, plus strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate appropriately.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and able to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired.

Details

Location: Somersworth, NH (onsite)

Compensation: $110,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required

Physical requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; must be able to lift 15 pounds at times; must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
