Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior HR Manager to join a growing industrial organization in the Greater Philadelphia area. This role serves as a hands‑on HR leader and trusted business partner to operational leadership, translating business needs into practical people solutions.

The HR Manager is responsible for executing HR programs that support operational goals, strengthening workforce capability, driving consistent HR processes, and ensuring compliance with company policies and employment requirements. By partnering closely with leaders and employees, this role will play an important part in supporting workforce performance, employee engagement, retention, and overall organizational success.

This is a hands‑on HR role requiring a broad background across core HR functions, including Employee Relations, Performance Management, Compliance, HR Policies & Procedures, and Employee Engagement.

The position is based within a large industrial operation supporting a multi‑shift workforce. The role requires a visible and active presence throughout the organization and flexibility to periodically support employees and leaders outside of standard business hours based on operational needs.

The HR Manager will balance tactical execution with strategic HR support—addressing day‑to‑day workforce needs while helping implement programs and practices that support a growing organization. The ideal candidate is practical, collaborative, solutions‑oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced environment.

A strong understanding of manufacturing, production, skilled trades, or other industrial environments is highly preferred.

This is a full‑time, onsite position located in the Greater Philadelphia area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Employee Relations & Engagement: Manage day‑to‑day employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, conflict resolution, attendance and conduct issues, performance concerns, and policy interpretation. Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees while helping foster a positive and productive workplace.
  • Performance Management: Support execution of the performance management process, including goal setting, employee feedback, performance improvement plans, and corrective actions. Coach managers to ensure accountability, appropriate documentation, consistency, and fair application of standards.
  • Leadership Coaching: Partner directly with managers and supervisors to strengthen leadership effectiveness and address workforce challenges. Provide practical guidance on employee performance, communication, conflict resolution, organizational changes, and other people‑related matters.
  • Compliance & HR Operations: Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies. Maintain accurate HR records and HRIS information and support reporting, audits, documentation, and other HR operational requirements.
  • HR Program Execution: Support the implementation and ongoing administration of HR programs, policies, processes, and initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and create greater consistency and efficiency across the organization.
  • Industrial Environment: Maintain a strong presence within the operation and build effective relationships with frontline employees, supervisors, managers, and senior leadership. Understand operational priorities and ensure HR practices support both employee and business needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR certification preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably within a manufacturing, production, skilled trades, construction, logistics, or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing employee relations matters, workplace investigations, performance management, and corrective actions.
  • Experience coaching and advising managers and supervisors on complex employee and workforce matters.
  • Experience supporting HR program implementation and organizational change.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to build credibility and influence employees and leaders at all levels of an organization.
  • Experience working with HR technologies and HRIS platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and sound judgement.
  • Experience supporting a multi‑shift or large frontline workforce preferred.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM‑SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification a plus.
What We're Looking For

We are looking for an HR professional who enjoys being close to the business and is comfortable working directly with employees and operational leaders. This individual should be equally capable of coaching a manager through a difficult employee situation, conducting an investigation, supporting a workforce initiative, and identifying opportunities to improve an HR process.

The successful candidate will bring a practical, hands‑on approach to HR, strong business judgment, and the ability to build trusted relationships throughout the organization.
