Fitzgerald Auto Mall is hiring for a Senior Human Resource Generalist to join our team! The Senior Human Resources Generalist is an experienced, well-rounded HR professional who works independently while partnering closely with the Director of Human Resources and other members of the HR team to support dealership locations across three states. This position requires strong knowledge across the full range of Human Resources functions, including HR systems and technology, employee relations, benefits and leave administration, recruiting and onboarding, compliance, and day-to-day HR operations. A significant focus of the role is the administration, maintenance, and continued improvement of the organization's HRIS, Learning Management System (LMS), and related HR platforms. The ideal candidate is highly computer literate, comfortable taking ownership of systems and processes, able to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently, and capable of providing knowledgeable HR support across multiple areas while recognizing when matters require collaboration or escalation.

HR Systems & LMS Management
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day administrator for HR technology platforms, including the HRIS, Learning Management System (LMS), applicant tracking, recruiting, benefits, and electronic onboarding systems.
  • Maintain system configuration, workflows, user access, data integrity, reporting, integrations, and routine system updates.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, research solutions, coordinate with vendors when necessary, and provide user support to managers and associates.
  • Manage LMS assignments, training records, completion data, reporting, and system maintenance in partnership with Training & Development.
  • Regularly review systems and processes to identify efficiencies, improve workflows, and ensure technology is being used effectively.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system processes, configurations, and procedures.
  • Serve as an internal resource for HR system functionality, helping ensure systems remain organized, current, accurate, and aligned with operational needs.
Benefits Administration
  • Administer employee benefit programs and serve as a knowledgeable resource for associates regarding enrollment, qualifying life events, eligibility, coverage, and benefit-related questions.
  • Assist associates with claims-related questions by gathering relevant information, asking appropriate follow‑up questions to understand the issue, reviewing available plan and enrollment information, and helping determine the appropriate next steps or resources for resolution.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of benefit plans, eligibility requirements, carrier processes, and available resources in order to effectively guide associates and identify when vendor or carrier assistance is needed.
  • Support annual Open Enrollment, including system preparation, employee communications, enrollment review, and issue resolution.
  • Work directly with benefit vendors, carriers, and internal partners to research and resolve enrollment, eligibility, claims, and administrative issues while maintaining accurate benefit records.
Leave Administration
  • Independently manage employee leave cases from initial notification through review and recommendation for approval by the Director of Human Resources, including FMLA, ADA/accommodation processes, applicable state leave requirements, company leave policies, and return‑to‑work requirements.
  • Gather and review required documentation, communicate with associates, managers, healthcare providers or leave vendors as appropriate, track deadlines and eligibility requirements, and follow up on incomplete or outstanding information.
  • Evaluate leave documentation and applicable requirements, identify issues requiring additional information or review, and prepare each leave for final approval by the Director of Human Resources.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential leave records, provide timely status updates, and ensure approved leaves are properly documented, tracked, and communicated through return to work or case closure.
  • Partner with hiring managers on recruiting needs, job postings, candidate review, and hiring coordination for dealership and corporate positions.
  • Maintain the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and electronic onboarding platform, ensuring candidate, hiring, and new‑hire information is complete and accurate.
  • Monitor recruiting and onboarding workflows and recommend system or process improvements.
Employee Relations & HR Support
  • Provide knowledgeable employee relations and general HR support to managers and associates, working independently on appropriate matters and in conjunction with the Director of Human Resources on complex or sensitive issues.
  • Assist with employee concerns, investigations, documentation, corrective action, performance management, attendance, and policy interpretation.
  • Apply sound judgment to HR matters and recognize when collaboration or escalation is appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality and sound judgment when handling employee and business information.
Multi‑State HR Support & Compliance
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and HR requirements within the states in which the company operates.
  • Assist HR leadership with compliance initiatives, audits, reporting, policy updates, and HR projects.
  • Regularly visit assigned dealership locations to provide in‑person HR support, build relationships with managers and associates, and identify HR needs.
  • Perform additional HR responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Experience with benefits, leave administration, recruiting, and onboarding.
  • Advanced computer literacy and demonstrated ability to independently administer and maintain HR systems are required.
  • Strong working knowledge of HRIS, LMS, ATS, benefits, and onboarding platforms, including system configuration, data maintenance, reporting, troubleshooting, and user support.
  • Previous Paylocity and Cornerstone experience strongly preferred.
