Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a Senior Category Manager to own end-to-end HR Total Rewards and Payroll sourcing, strategy, and supplier management. This role partners with HR, Finance, and Counsel to align category plans with business goals and to deliver measurable value.

The position is fully remote within the United States with an east coast schedule, requiring active participation in virtual meetings and regular collaboration with stakeholders across functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Management, HR, or related field is required (MBA a plus).
• 10 years of progressive procurement/category management experience, with HR/HCM, benefits, payroll experience preferred.
• Experience negotiating large, complex service contracts.
• Strong understanding of HR Total Rewards and Payroll vendor landscape (Workday, Alight).
• Familiarity with data privacy and compliance considerations for HR/payroll data.
• Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills and spend analysis capability.
• Negotiation skills in pay for performance and risk-sharing arrangements.
• Ability to lead cross-functional meetings and present to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute multi-year category strategies for HR Total Rewards and Payroll spend.
• Lead complex sourcing events (RFI/RFP/RFQ) for benefits carriers and payroll platforms.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and SLAs with major providers.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance via QBRs and scorecards.
• Identify and deliver cost savings and efficiencies; track savings targets.
• Partner with HR/Total Rewards and Payroll leadership as primary procurement partner.
• Assess and mitigate supplier risk (data security/privacy, ERISA, ACA).
• Manage contract lifecycle including renewals and amendments.
• Mentor or guide junior category managers/analysts.
