Job summary

Yurok Tribe is seeking an experienced Human Resources Assistant Director to oversee HR functions, including recruitment, classification, performance management, training and HRIS. The role coordinates with other departments and provides complex administrative support to the HR Director.

Qualifications

• Certification in Tribal HR preferred.
• SHRM certification preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of HR management, employee development, and training design.
• Working knowledge of tribal, state, and federal labor laws.
• Ability to prepare comprehensive reports.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based systems.
• Commitment to Yurok history, culture and values.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and supervise HR department operations including recruitment, classification, training, and HRIS.
• Draft and update policies ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
• Organize committee meetings, draft agendas, minutes, and correspondence.
• Develop and manage HR projects, programs, and events.
• Prepare quarterly HR trend reports and program progress analyses.
• Assist with employee performance appraisals and investigations as needed.
