Job summary

The Department of Human Resources Development, Employee Claims Division in Hawaii seeks a section supervisor for the Claims Management Branch. The role administers a self-insured workers’ compensation program for Executive Branch employees and oversees complex claims processing.

You will train staff, review cases, attend hearings, and recommend program improvements, while ensuring compliance with Hawaii workers’ compensation laws.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university.
• 3.5 years of experience in workers' compensation.
• Ability to represent the employer in hearings and contested claims.

Responsibilities

• Assign and review the work of subordinates engaged in processing workers' compensation claims.
• Provide on-going training to subordinates and assist in statewide training sessions.
• Handle the most complex workers' compensation claims and attend administrative hearings.
• Make recommendations for the improvement of the employer's statewide workers' compensation programs.
