Job summary

HD Supply in Atlanta seeks a senior HR Compliance leader to manage programs covering labor and employment law, immigration, and AAP. You will originate, implement, monitor and audit internal processes to align with federal, state and local laws and enterprise policies.

You will partner with HR, legal and operations to resolve policy issues, conduct risk assessments, drive corrective actions, and explain complex requirements to executives and site leaders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, employment law or related field.
  • 5+ years in HR compliance, employment law or related field.
  • Experience with federal contractor compliance requirements and AAP.
  • Experience interpreting employment laws at federal, state and local levels.
  • Experience conducting audits, risk assessments and corrective actions.
  • Experience supporting ethics, hotline, policy governance or workplace compliance.
  • I-9, E-Verify and immigration sponsorship experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate complex compliance requirements to leaders.
  • SPHR/SHRM certification preferred.
  • Experience with Workday and compliance tools.

Responsibilities

  • Co-manage HR/Legal Compliance programs including hotline, I-9, immigration sponsorship, and policy affirmation.
  • Collaborate with HR to resolve policy interpretations and procedural issues.
  • Manage legislative research on legal requirements affecting HR activities.
  • Maintain relationships with management, legal counsel and external providers.
  • Oversee Equal Employment Opportunity and affirmative action efforts.
  • Conduct training sessions on specified compliance areas.
  • Ensure invoicing accuracy for vendor services and track payments.
  • Draft executive summaries of proposals to change processes.

Job description

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Employment Law, Industrial/Labor Relations, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in HR Compliance, Employment Law Compliance, Workforce Compliance, Ethics & Compliance, OFCCP/Affirmative Action, or a related compliance discipline.
  • Experience supporting federal contractor compliance requirements, including AAP development, OFCCP audits, EEO-1 and VETS-4212 reporting.
  • Experience interpreting and implementing federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience conducting compliance audits, risk assessments, corrective action planning, and program monitoring.
  • Experience supporting ethics, hotline, policy governance, or workplace compliance programs.
  • Experience administering immigration sponsorship, I-9, E-Verify, and work authorization compliance programs preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex compliance requirements to HR, operational leaders, and executive stakeholders.
  • Professional certification such as SPHR, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SHRM-CP, or CCEP preferred.

Job Summary

Responsible for providing strategic support and management for compliance programs, included but not limited to labor and employment law compliance, immigration compliance, AAP compliance, and various HR compliance lanes. Responsible for originating, implementing, monitoring and auditing internal compliance programs ensuring consistency and compliance with all applicable state and federal laws as well as regulations and enterprise policies and procedures.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
  • Co-manages various HR/Legal Compliance programs to include, but not limited to, the employee hotline (AlertLine), employment verification, immigration sponsorship, background adjudication, state and federal compliance requirements, I-9 compliance, and policy affirmation.
  • Works collaboratively with HR Partners to resolve problems that arise due to policy interpretations, procedural issues, job performance concerns, time off matters, harassment concerns, equal employment issues, etc. Assists in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures.
  • Manages legislative research to keep department abreast of all applicable legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR activities to ensure the enterprise policies, procedures, and reporting activities are in compliance with federal, state and local laws related to employment.
  • Manages effective working relationships with all levels of line and staff management, compensation and benefits department, legal counsel, and outside service providers. Assists with resolution of associate relations issues as needed.

  • Conducts training sessions covering specified compliance areas.
  • Ensures proper and accurate invoicing for vendor provided services, coordinates timely payment and tracks posting/payment of funds.
  • Writes effective executive summaries of proposals to change organization's processes.
Nature and Scope
  • Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
  • Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to the expected results. Determines and develops an approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
  • May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.
Work Environment
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
