Job summary

Morson Group is seeking an HPC Systems & Scheduler Administrator in Greenville, SC for a 12-month, onsite contract. The role focuses on Linux system administration, Slurm workload management, and Linux VDI environments to support GE Vernova’s enterprise HPC stack.

The engineer will own the scheduler and OS layer, drive reliability, throughput, and user experience, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize performance and security.

Qualifications

• Senior-level Linux systems administration for HPC environments.
• Deep expertise with Slurm workload manager and partition configurations.
• Experience managing Linux VDI environments and application delivery.
• Strong focus on system reliability, security compliance, and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Manage OS-level configuration, patching, and hardening of HPC nodes and login/head nodes.
• Serve as the primary subject matter expert for Slurm; tune policies, QoS, and reservations.
• Manage environment modules, compilers, MPI libraries, and app runtimes for engineering codes.
• Administer Linux VDI, image lifecycle, user sessions, and access controls.
• Set up and maintain monitoring and alerting (Ganglia, Grafana/Prometheus, CloudWatch).
• Optimize scheduler throughput and reduce queue times; coordinate with DT/ADTs teams.
