Job summary

NMIC seeks a Supervising Attorney (Housing) to lead the housing unit within the Legal, Organizing & Advocacy department. The role oversees attorneys, mentors staff, and handles a portion of housing matters, including court appearances.

Required are a JD and NYS Bar admission with at least 3 years of housing law experience; bilingual English/Spanish is a strong plus. Hybrid work model offered in NY, with competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• JD and NYS Bar admission.
• At least 3 years of housing legal experience.
• Experience in a community-based setting preferred.
• Proven mentoring skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
• Strong English communication skills; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise housing attorneys and mentor staff.
• Represent clients in administrative hearings, trials and appeals.
• Maintain a small independent housing caseload.
• Coordinate trial dates with supervisory staff.
• Lead group attorney meetings and provide supervision during court intake.
